Exploring the Concept "God" - I

Thought of doing some serious blogging this time on one of my favorite topics, atheism. With all due respect to the numerous so-called Gods in all religions, this post is not intended to hurt anyone's feelings but if it still hurts, I would have to remind you that truth always hurts. So, you can either be ready to pin roses on my shirt or throw some bricks on my face.

First of all, what makes us believe in God? Utter selfishness. Yes, you read it right. Think about this. Are we the only ones living in this whole gigantic Universe? Given the billions and billions of solar systems and billions of galaxies, do you still think that there won't be a SINGLE living being in any other planet? This whole notion of we, the humans, are so special makes us to think that the Earth is so special and it was selected as the nest for us by God himself, and this same notion gives way to the universal question, Why Earth? Why Us?

If you come out of this selfishness, you can realize that we are the tiny ones in this Universe and we are just a spec in the crowd. Many can say humans cannot exist in other planets because there is no oxygen. Oh, yeah? How can you think that people living in other planets are going to be humans? Who said only oxygen can give life to any being? We all know plants breathe only carbon dioxide. What if there are aliens in other planets with the tissues of plants, living by breathing carbon dioxide?

If you look into the Holy books of all religions, all of them talk only about Earth, Sun and the Moon, saying God created Earth, so and so. For argument's sake, let's say, God created Earth. If these writers were clever enough to find when and how did God create Earth, who were able to find the very existence of the Almighty God, why weren't they talking about the other planets and how they were created and when?

The fact is that everything in the Holy books are imaginary and Earth was the only known planet to the reach of Human's knowledge when these Holy books were written and they were selfish enough to think that they were the only ones in the Universe.

We have read about all the miracles of all the Gods of the world. Okay, let's see. Jesus Christ, the savior of human kind, as the historians say, had done a lot of miracles. Now are there any evidences that any of the miracles that happened in India or Greece? The reason I am taking Greece and India is these are the world's oldest countries. Of course, you can argue that Jesus was born in Bethlehem, away from India. But given he is the God, why is his miracles and Resurrection are confined only to those premises? If it's a fact that Jesus really resurrected, there would have been lots of Christians in India whereas the fact remains that Christianity in India dates back only to the 4th century. Coming to Hinduism, Rama ruled the WORLD for 11,000 years after his tenure of exile. Then, how is it possible that Hinduism is confined only to India?

These questions may seem silly to some of those who are reading this, but if you take a closer look, you can understand the point I'm trying to make. We grew up listening to these stories that our elders learnt from these Holy books, word of mouth about these miracles, which eventually making most of us theists. But if you analyze them scientifically, you can understand that these are just Harry Potter books. Of course, these books and stories teach us morals. That's the very point I am also making, we won't listen to people giving advice to us, but if it's mixed with God, we will tend to follow it.

Thirukkural is the greatest guide for lifestyle, wealth, politics, love, friendship and sex. But how many of us follow the morals told in each verse? Yes, you can say it's totally 1330 and I don't get to read it, but do you follow at least the verses you learnt in school? But there are still lots of homes where they don't play snake and ladder, just because gambling lead to destruction of a kingdom in Mahabharata.

Watch has arrived but....

Santa's wife was expecting & the baby was due any day. Santa was very confident it would be a boy & was looking forward to the D-day. As fate would have it, he was transferred to another city & had to join office immediately. Before going, he asked his father-in-law to send a telegram confirming birth of his son, but in order to avoid giving party to his office colleagues, he asks his father-in-law to write "the watch has arrived" & he will understand that the son is born.

The D-day arrived. His wife delivered a cute little baby girl. Now Santa's father-in-law didn't know what to do.. If he writes "the watch has arrived" Santa will think he has got a Son. If he writes "watch has not arrived" Santa will get worried that something serious has happened, but being a very intelligent person, he finds a solution & sends the telegram.

Santa received the telegram, opened it eagerly and reads "The watch has arrived, but the pendulum is missing".

Never try to outsmart a woman

1. Women Are Smarter Than Men
Due to inherit a fortune when his sickly, widower father died, Charles decided he needed a woman to enjoy it with. Going to a singles' bar, he spotted a woman whose beauty took his breath away.

"I'm just an ordinary man", he said, walking up to her, "but in just a week or two, my father will die and I'll inherit 20 million dollars". The woman went home with Charles, and the next day she became his stepmother.

2. Women's Revenge
"Cash, check, or charge?" I asked, after folding the items the woman wished to purchase. As she fumbled for her wallet, I noticed a remote control for a television set in her purse.
"So, do you always carry your TV remote?" I asked.
"No", she replied, "but my husband refused to come shopping with me, so I figured this was the most legal evil thing I could do to him.

3. Wife vs Husband
A couple drove down a country road for several miles, not saying a word. An earlier discussion had led to an argument and neither of them wanted to concede their position. As they passed a barnyard of mules, goats, and pigs, the husband asked sarcastically, "Relatives of yours?" "Yep", the wife replied, "in-laws".

4. Words
A husband read an article to his wife about how many words women use a day... 30,000 to a man's 15,000.The wife replied, "The reason has to be because we have to repeat everything to men". The husband then turned to his wife and asked, "What?"

5. Coffee
A man and his wife were having an argument about who should brew the coffee each morning.

The wife said, "You should do it, because you get up first, and then we don't have to wait as long to get our coffee".

The husband said, "You are in charge of cooking around here and you should do it, because that is your job, and I can just wait for my coffee".

Wife replies, "No, you should do it, and besides, it is in the Bible that the man should do the coffee".

Husband replies, "I can't believe that, show me".

So, she fetched the Bible, and opened the New Testament and showed him at the top of several pages, that it indeed says... "HEBREWS".

Birds and Bees (Modern Version)

DADDY! HOW WAS I BORN?" Junior asks his dad,

His dad, who is a Software Engineer sighs and replies, "Ah, my son, I guess one day you would have to find out anyway!"

"Well, I saw your Mom and I first got together in a chat room on YAHOO .Then I set up a date via e-mail with your mom and we met at a cyber-cafe. We sneaked into a secluded room, where your mother agreed to a download from my hard drive. As soon as I was ready to up load, we discovered that neither one of us had used a firewall, but it was too late to hit the delete button."

"Six weeks later your mom sent me an instant message saying that her operating system was showing signs of unauthorized program activity from a self extracting file which had implanted itself in her BIOS. Then nine months later a little Pop-Up appeared and said: 'You've Got Male'!

Lesson 6: 6-Lesson Management Course
A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field.

While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him.

As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was.

The dung was actually thawing him out!

He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy.

A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate.

Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.

Morals of the story
(1) Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy.

(2) Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.

(3) And when you're in deep shit, it's best to keep your mouth shut!

Lesson 5: 6-Lesson Management Course
A turkey was chatting with a bull.

'I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree' sighed the turkey, 'but I haven't got the energy.'

'Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?' replied the bull. They're packed with nutrients.'

The turkey pecked at a lump of dung, and found it actually gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree.

The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch..

Finally after a fourth night, the turkey was proudly perched at the top of the tree.

He was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot him out of the tree.

Moral of the story
Bull Shit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

Lesson 4: 6-Lesson Management Course
An eagle was sitting on a tree resting, doing nothing.

A small rabbit saw the eagle and asked him, 'Can I also sit like you and do nothing?'

The eagle answered: 'Sure, why not.'

So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the eagle and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story
To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.
